YouTube Red users can save songs for offline listening. For a limited time in YouTube Music, which was only achievable through mixtape feature, i.e. songs are automatically populated based upon your listening history. Technically it worked as well, but the users didn’t have additional control over what they going to listen to. Now users can choose their specific songs, albums and playlist for offline listening.

Save YouTube Videos as Audio only

To save music for offline listening, tap on the Menu icon, (Three Dots), next to any song, playlist, or album, and select Save Offline. A pop-up will then appear (Same as the YouTube Offline Video), asking to save just the audio, SD video or HD Video (As Applicable). On iOS devices, swipe left on a song in a playlist and then select Offline.

To access your offline music, tap on your profile and Select Offline.

Although, Offline Mixtape was best suited for most of the users, YouTube Red subscribers now have full control on what they listen to offline in YouTube Music.

Social media changes our life drastically. In February 4, 2004, Facebook took the world by storm with over 2 billion monthly active users and a revenue of 27.46 billion USD (2016).  Today Facebook become the most popular site for interacting with anybody irrelevant to the distance or time. Also Facebook is now offering you the unique features of Online games, Video chatting, Image editing tools and much more.

Many people are claiming that Facebook are stealing their information from it’s Facebook and messenger app. Do you know the apps you use on your Facebook are the actual culprit. And did anyone of us pay attention to one single page where the apps ask for certain permissions. Probably no, because we are too busy in click next button. But yes, it is same like using on Android or iPhone and many of us didn’t notice it at all.

While using any app on these social media, you asked to install the app and then it shows you a window such as below.

Yes, right. The application is asking for permissions, but now you ask where. Click the edit info and link and it will show you the permissions that are set to allow by default such as below.

You got the idea now. Basically these apps are having access to all of your private information, shared by you. You know why these apps are set to access the data by default, because the data fetch by these apps are sell to companies such as Google, Microsoft and United States Government. Its obvious, when you are using any product for free, you become The Product. And you are allowing them to steal your precious information right below your nose for many years.

Well now you are probably thinking how to stop these apps?

The first thing you can do is stop using such apps on Facebook. But thats hard right because we become so much addicted to Facebook and it’s online test which are not limited to personality test, how big your friend circle is, how cool you look and the list goes on.

So what you can do, the best thing you can do is deny the permissions to app. But yes certain apps are hard wired to collect certain information such as your profile info and your email address. The rest of these permissions are deniable.

So how you will protect yourself ? It’s simple

  1. Just while installing the app look for the permission window
  2. Click edit info link.
  3. It will show you the permissions the apps are asking and just uncheck the ones you don’t want.
  4. You can just simply uninstall the app right after you use it.
  5. From go to settings ——> Apps and press the cross, just right to the app.

So the next time you like to use any certain app on Facebook, Beware of your privacy exploitation.

In recent months Gmail users have been targeted by a  series of phishing attacks, that use emails from the known contact or some one from the address book of the user whose account has been compromised.

The skeptical attack displays Gmail official address “accounts.gmail.com” in the browser’s location bar. This leads users to what appears to be a legitimate Google Sign-in page, where users are prompted to enter their credentials, which then supplied to hackers, hence compromised.

The technique is so well designed that many experienced technical users have fallen prey to this scam. Users shared this warning on social media platforms to alert their loved ones, stated that this techniques exploits the trusted contacts very easily.

What Is Google doing?

Google has been aware of the issue since mid-January and Google was continuing to strengthen its defences. Also it was using machine learning-based detection of phishing messages, safe browsing warnings of dangerous links in emails, and taking steps to prevent suspicious sign-ins.

Two-factor authentication can be used to protect the User accounts, Aaron Stein Wordfence suggested. Google Chrome released 56.0.2924, which changes the behaviour of the browser’s location bar. The change results in the display of not secure messages when users see a data URL.

Google using Security Key enforcement as additional steps to protect G Suite customers against phishing. This techniques allows administrators to protect their employees using only security keys as the second factor. Bluetooth low energy Security Key support is also another user option, works on Android and iOS mobile devices.

The Reality

The latest changes in Chrome and Firefox reflects some of these types of attacks. However, a variety of techniques are used to target users. These attackers create extremely realistic landing pages, using javascript to obfuscate and encrypt pages and contents, ad host documents directly on Google drive. Recently attackers used PDFs to make it appear that users are already logged onto Google Docs, then it prompted for user login when they hover their mouse over the PDF.

Attacks of these types are such of a cat-and-mouse game in such a manner the attackers will find more complex entry points as cyber security improves over time. This reflects the directly proportional relationship between cyber criminals and cyber security. As they become more organised and better funded, the resource pooled up into a lot used for further exploiting the security holes into the security programs and tweaking attack methods to become more effective.

Difficult Defence

These attacks like phishing and social engineering are the most common gateways of entry. Such attacks like these often privileged users with access to sensitive data. Also security companies are aware of this, providing security measures to these types of users without limiting their ability to do their jobs effectively and efficiently is very difficult.

Despite with all the challenges it possess, like normal phishing scam, it has a limited lifespan because it impacts a specific audience. Google likely will launch image recognition and URL filtering to prevent such kind of campaign from impacting further damage.
